Caitlin & Adrian – St Benedict’s Glebe – Orso

McKay Photography

Caitlin & Adrian are such a lovely couple and their wedding day was awesome! The boys and girls preparations were a lot of fun – I loved the ring box Adrian’s parents made for them such a lovely idea. The ceremony featured lots of family from the page boys and flower girls right through to Father Jim. It was held at St Benedict’s Church in Glebe and afterwards we did some photos right on the church grounds that had beautiful ivy everywhere. We headed to Freshwater Headland for some more photos and after a shower of rain got some great shots on the rocks and the pool there. Then onto Orso at the Spit for the reception. It’s a great venue that looks even better after a recent refurbishment. The light, open room and views of the boats and harbour are really beautiful. Make up for the day was by Read more…

Megan & Brad – Observatory Hill – The Mint

McKay Wedding Photography

Megan & Brad were married on a brilliant sunny day up at Observatory Hill. It was a stunning location for the ceremony and afterwards it was great to see everyone relax with a few drinks under the big fig trees in the shade. We did photos around Observatory Hill and walked down into the Rocks, Martin Place and around the Mint itself. The Mint is a great venue and well worth a visit to see the history on display. The food was awesome with mini burgers being a crowd favourite. The night was fantastic with some great speeches and plenty of dancing.

Nicoli & Chris – Centennial Vineyards Bowral

Nicoli & Chris at Centennial Vineyards Bowral

Nicoli & Chris had their winter wedding in Bowral at one of my favourite venues Centennial Vineyards.  Nicoli and the girls got ready at Hatpins – a beautiful B&B in Bowral – and the make up was done by Yvette from Ethix. Centennial Vineyards always looks amazing but the main room was really stunning with flowers and styling by Michelle / Affair with George. The ceremony was inside due to wet weather and having Nicoli’s uncle as the celebrant made it fun and personal. We got a tad wet doing bridal party photos outside but used the Cellar Door undercover area for a while before braving the rows of vines. The photos looked amazing and I love the gumboots and umbrella photos! Back inside the reception was a wonderful night with great food, excellent speeches and some fun dancing. Congrats guy! Kim & Jarrod – Gibraltar Hotel wedding

Kin Jarrod Gibraltar Hotel Bowral

Kim & Jarrod were married at one of our favourite local venues – Gibraltar Hotel. It’s an awesome location with great accommodation, plenty of spots for a ceremony (including the indoor gallery room for wet weather) and beautiful photo locations around the golf course. Kim & Jarrod both got ready at the hotel and the ceremony was held on the golf course. It was a beautiful spring day so just picture perfect. We did photos around the golf course and had a fun time driving from each location on the golf carts. The reception was a lot of fun with some great speeches and plenty of dancing. Congrats guys! Hayley & Theo – St Andrew’s Orthodox Church Redfern – Dedes on the Wharf

Beautiful photo near the Opera House - McKay Photography

Hayley & Theo were married in July this year and contrary to what you’d expect the weather was awesome so it shows a winter wedding can be just perfect! The guys got ready in Coogee and we got some great shots of the boys getting their suits on and then some cool group shots on the rock cliffs nearby. Hayley is a dress desginer and her wedding dress was stunning! She also made the bridesmaids and flowergirl dresses which were just beautiful. The ceremony was at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church in Redfern. It’s a beautiful church with a tall tower at the front and rich colours inside. The ceremony was lovely and as Hayley & Theo exited the church they were pelted by rice and confetti, loved it! We did bridal party photos at Observatory Hill and the Rocks area, and being winter with an early sunset we got Read more…

Sandra & Andrew were recently married and had a beautiful wedding day. Andrew and his brothers had a good laugh getting ready and there were a lot of big smiles, tears and hugs at Sandra’s house. I love the reaction of her Dad when seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time – such a beautiful moment to capture. The ceremony was at St Mary’s Orthodox Church in Mays Hill. It all went well and we headed into Sydney city for photos at Observatory Hill & around the Rocks…..we got some beautiful photos before the rain arrived. Mary & Ryan's wedding at Bradley's Head and the Taronga Centre

Mary & Ryan were married in early June and were blessed with beautiful weather for their outdoor ceremony at Bradley’s Head. It’s a stunning location and after the ceremony we made the most of the views with some beautiful bridal party photos. The late afternoon light was awesome and we even had time to visit the giraffes at Taronga Zoo and monkey around as well. The Taronga Centre is a fantastic reception venue with views over the city that can’t be beaten. It was a great evening and the lolly bar was the best I’ve seen! Congrats guys. Alana & Michael – St Peter Chanel – Le Montage

Alana & Michael’s wedding was a beautiful day in late May. Everyone was getting ready in the city and Michael looked very sharp is a blue suit and Alana’s dress was stunning. From being at Katie’s wedding a year earlier I knew the Hill girls can seriously bling up their shoes and I was not disappointed! The ceremony was held at St Peter Chanel in Hunters Hill, one of my favourite churches. You could hear the bridal car arrive well before you could see it and this classic red GT was awesome. The ceremony went very well with Father Lex in charge and afterwards we quickly took some family photos before catching the very last light at Clarke’s Point Reserve. The reception was Le Montage and the room looked amazing and the service is second to none as they really go all out for you at this venue. Friends and Read more…

Carly & Torstein – the Viking & the Convict

Carly & Torstein (aka the Viking & the Convict) were married overseas in Torsrtein’s home country of Norway but they held a beautiful wedding party in Dural for their Australian family & friends. Driving to the house I really didn’t know what to expect…… but what I definitely didn’t expect was: vikings, convicts, a truly stunning vintage styled set up in a marquee, wheelbarrow race photos, how high the flowers were thrown, a world war two army jeep, old doors at the marquee entrance, a beautiful property with loads of great photo locations, Matt Inkster doing video, a beautifully impromptu first dance, and loads and loads of fun and smiles all day 🙂 Visit my facebook page McKay Photography Facebook here or my main website McKay Wedding Photography Sydney here. Megan & Shaun – Bradley’s Head – Athol Hall wedding

Megan & Shaun's beautiful wedding at Bradley's Head and Athol Hall

Megan & Shaun’s wedding at Athol Hall was an epic day! A big feature of their wedding was the Bermudian theme where Megan is from – it included cool sun glasses and rum swizzle drinks. By the way any country that has shorts as their national dress must be awesome – it sure beats wearing a suit and long pants in the Australian summer. The day went so well from the preparations right through to the crazy dancing and photo booth antics. The ceremony was held at Bradley’s Head – one of the best locations in Sydney with stunning harbour views. The reception was at Athol Hall – a great venue and rather than being in the hall everything was set up in a huge marquee on the lawn. It looked amazing, especially at night with the city lights. Thanks to Ian from DnM Wedding Films for being fantastic to Read more…

Fenella & James were married at St Marks Church Darling Point

Fenella & James had an awesome wedding day full of smiles and lots of laughs! It was an early start at Fenella’s preparations as the ceremony at St Mark’s Darling Point was at 9.30am. Fenella and the girls looked stunning and at the church James and the boys were looking pretty sharp too. Fenella arrived at St Mark’s in a very cool old Jag and you could tell she was super excited about getting married. Actually the smiles and excitement didnt stop for the whole day which was awesome to see. We did some location photos at McKell Park before heading to the Sergeant’s Mess for the reception. It was a cracker day and the Harbour looked amazing from the balcony. It’s a great wedding venue and everything went very smoothly. It was great to shoot with Jamie from Soda Films. Carlie & Paul – Clarkes Point Reserve – Deckhouse wedding

Carlie Paul Deckhouse wedding

Carlie and Paul had a beautiful wedding day! Carlie got ready at the Sebel Pier One and looked amazing in her dress. I met Paul and the boys at Clarke’s Point Reserve and the set up overlooking the Harbour was magic. Carlie arrived and the ceremony all went well…. but we had to hurry afterwards with some very dark clouds gathering and it didnt take long for a huge storm front to arrive. We headed inside and waited for the worst of the rain to pass and thankfully still had time after for some more shots around the Deckhouse afterwards. The Deckhouse at Woolwich is a fantastic wedding venue and one of my favourites. The venue itself is beautiful and I’ve always found the food and service to be outstanding. Both bride & groom preparations were a lot of fun to capture. The ceremony was St John the Apostle Church in Kippax – it was a lovely ceremony and Rukshan surprised everyone with a beautiful song just for Anushka. We headed into Canberra and did a short stop along the way to get attacked by ants….. ah….. take some location photos in the rolling hills & grass. Some great photos but the ants weren’t much fun! Our main destination in Canberra was the Palace Electric Cinema in NewActon Nishi – it’s an amazing building with very cool modern architecture. The interior of the building was amazing and made for some fantastic photos. The Nishi Building itself is pretty awesome being sustainable and energy efficient. Read more…

Rachael & James were such a fun couple and they clearly had an absolute blast on their wedding day. The ceremony was at St Mary’s Church in North Sydney and we did location photos at Balmoral Beach which is a lovely location with the beach and ocean views, as well as the Rotunda and a small bridge.
