Lucia & Max – St Martha’s Strathfield – Hyde Park – Watersedge
Lucia & Max were married at St Martha’s in Strathfield – a lovely church I was at several years ago and it’s always to visit a place again. I started the day at Lucia’s house and we got some great shots. The ceremony went very well and afterwards we drove into the city for photos at Hyde Park – a great spot and the shots look fantastic! We headed down to the Harbour Bridge area before the reception at Watersedge. It’s a beautiful reception venue right on the Harbour and the table decorations were first class. The cake looked amazing too! It was a lovely night – such a great…
Katrina & Rob – Warriewood Beach – Mona Vale Headland & Beach – Narrabeen SLSC
Katrina & Rob choose Warriewood Beach for their ceremony location and it’s a fantastic spot. It’s a nice private beach without the usual Northern Beaches crowds and has lovely views north to Mona Vale Headland. The ceremony went very well and they even managed to get a flower girl who had developed a sudden phobia of sand to be involved! It ended with them walking down the aisle in a great shower of rose petals that looks amazing in the photos! We did some shots with the bridal party on Warriewood Beach before heading to Mona Vale Headland first and Beach second. Everyone had a great time and the view…
Tabitha & Matt – St Ignatius Riverview – Clontarf Beach – Orso
January has been hot! Phew. Tabitha & Matt had a 40+ day complete with a change that bought cool winds and rain in the afternoon. I did preparation photos at Tabitha’s place and Sarah covered Matt’s preparations before heading to the ceremony at the school chapel of St Ignatius’ College, Riverview. It’s a beautiful place and blessedly the chapel had air-conditioning. The ceremony was lovely and ended with some beautiful singing by a friend of Tabitha & Matt’s. We did a range of shots with the bridal party at Riverview just before the front hit. We then headed to Curl Curl and Freshwater but it was rather windy and we…
Nicky & Simon – Oakhill College Chapel – Centennial Park – MCA
Nicky & Simon had a scorcher of a wedding day with the temperature hitting 40 in Castle Hill! Phew. The ceremony was held at the Oakhill College Chapel and it is a very beautiful place with a colourful interior. We headed away to Centennial Park for some photos with the bridal party before a short stop at Argyle Street and then photos under the Harbour Bridge. The reception was at the MCA – the Museum of Contemporary Art right in Circular Quay. Wow! What an amazing view from the Harbour Terrace – I was blown away and it really was an exceptional place to watch the sun slowly setting on…
Gwen & Terry – Tarpeian Precinct Botanic Gardens – Opera Point Marquee
Gwen & Terry were married at the Tarpeian Precinct in the Botanic Gardens. It’s a fantastic location right next to the Opera House with views over the harbour and it has a large fig tree for shade on a hot day. The ceremony went very well – I’ve never seen a veil come off with the first kiss! The the shower of petals as they walked down the aisle looks awesome! We did a few photos with Gwen & Terry at the Botanic Gardens and then headed to Hyde Park and also the Rocks before ending up back at the Opera House and the reception at Opera Point Marquee. It’s…
Olivia & Louis – St Andrew’s Manly – Curl Curl – Le Kiosk Shelly Beach
Olivia & Louis’ wedding was one of my last for 2009 and it was all very local for me – Olivia’s preparations were in Curl Curl, the ceremony literally just up the hill at St Andrew’s in Manly….. and the reception at Le Kiosk at Shelly Beach! St Andrew’s Presbyterian is a lovely church built in the late 1800’s and constructed from local white sandstone. I have been to quite a few weddings here and I just love the place. The minister Derek is such a great guy and he makes the whole wedding ceremony very relaxed. After the ceremony at St Andrew’s we went to North Curl Curl for…
Katie & Jerome – St Mary’s Immaculate Manly – Mona Vale Beach – Moby’s Whale Beach
Katie & Jerome were married at St Mary’s Immaculate in Manly – right next door to the studio! It’s a lovely church and the ceremony went very well. Outside it had started to rain so we did a group shot in the church but had a clear patch for family photos and some with Katie & Jerome. We headed to Mona Vale Beach for location photos but upon arrival the wind and rain didnt look good. Much to their credit the bridal party braved the elements and it was a lot of fun trying to shoot with my camera in one hand and an umbrella in the other! The photos…
Shelley & Eric – Vibe Hotel – St Thomas’ North Sydney – Long Reef Golf Club
Shelley & Eric picked what I think is one of the best churches in Sydney – St Thomas’ Anglican Church in North Sydney. It is a beautiful example of late 1800’s architecture and apparently has the longest aisle in the Southern hemisphere! As you can see from the photos below it is a fantastic place to be married and the ceremony was conducted very ably by Paul Dale, a minister from a local church – the Church by the Bridge – in Kirribilli. After the ceremony and family photos we did a few shots at St Thomas’ before heading to Kirribilli. Then it was off to Long Reef for firstly…
Luisa & Gianluca – Miramare Gardens
Luisa & Gianluca met while Luisa was on holiday in Italy so their wedding story started a thousand miles away from Sydney. The ceremony and reception was held at Miramare Gardens, a great wedding venue in Terry Hills. The ceremony itself was held in the garden pavillion – the entrance Luisa made was just beautiful and it really is a lovely garden setting. After the ceremony we took some family photos and then shots with the bridal party both around the grounds and then inside Miramare Gardens at the La Cantina and the Sigarro Bar, plus we did some nights shots at the garden pavillion during the reception. The night…
Lauren & Mark – Dunbar House Wedding Watsons Bay – Macquarie Lighthouse
Lauren & Mark held their wedding ceremony under a beautiful fig tree in Watson’s Bay right outside Dunbar House. There were storm clouds threatening but they held off until right to the end of the ceremony…… then it was umbrellas up and a run to cover! Thankfully the rain cleared for location photos firstly at Macquarie Lighthouse and then a beach near Strickland House. The sunlight coming through the clouds was spectacular! We headed back to Watson’s Bay via Nielsen Park and then into the reception upstairs at Dunbar House. Dunbar House is an awesome wedding venue and has an intimate feel but beautiful classic style. Weddings here always seem…
Lauren & Matt – Cafe Sydney – Opera House
With family & friends from overseas Lauren & Matt picked a fantastic venue for their wedding ceremony & reception – Cafe Sydney. Situated on the top floor of Customs House, Cafe Sydney has stunning views overlooking Circular Quay taking in the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, and the food & service is very well known as being exceptionally high. The ceremony was held on the balcony mid-morning on a hot day so it was very bright. The lunch was lovely and the speeches set a great tone for the dancing that followed. The band was Slide McBride and these guys are amazing – they do a great range of…
Stephanie & Craig – Trinity Grammar Chapel – Hyde Park – Sergeants Mess
Stephanie & Craig were married at Trinity Grammar School Chapel in Summer Hill. It’s a really lovely chapel and the ceremony was beautiful with plenty of emotion and some good laughs too! After a group shot and family photos we did a few shots on the school grounds before heading into the city to Hyde Park. It’s is a great spot for location photos and we got some really cool shots before a short stop at Kirribilli and then on to the reception. Stephanie & Craig’s reception was held at a new venue on the Sydney wedding scene – the Sergeants’ Mess in Chowder Bay. The Sergeants Mess opened in…
Jennifer & Matthew – Athol Hall
Jennifer & Matthew had their ceremony & reception at one of my favourite venues –
Jennifer & Daniel – Mandalay – The Rocks
Jennifer and Daniel were married at the Mandalay in Lane Cove. It’s a beautiful venue which has a great mix of an old style interior with a lovely garden exterior. The ceremony was held in the garden to the side of the house and it featured a lovely reading from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. It was a hot day so everyone headed inside after a few photos for the lunch time reception. The table settings were beautifully done, and check out the wedding cake – I’m not a basketball ref but this looks like a foul! After the reception we headed into the city for some photos with Jennifer and Daniel…
Kate & Brendan – Anglican Parish Hunters Hill – Royal Automobile Club RACA
Kate & Brendan had a beautiful warm spring day for their wedding. The ceremony was at Anglican Parish of Hunter’s Hill – a really lovely old church located in the heart of Hunter’s Hill and surrounded by trees. I was very impressed by the unique setting of the church – it had a very English county kind of feel. The reception was at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia – aka RACA – so we headed into the city and did some location shots at Hyde Park and the Opera House…. and of course some inside the RACA itself. Check out the shot of Kate & Brendan with a giant…
Marlia & Mark – Garrison Church – The Rocks – Bel Mondo
It’s been a very busy couple of months! As such we’re a bit behind on the blog so here goes…… Marlia & Mark were married at the Garrison Church in the Rocks. It was my first wedding at this church and I really enjoyed being right in the heart of the Rocks area! The church itself is stunning and there are plenty of great photo locations in the Rocks all within walking distance. I started at Marlia’s house for her preparation shots and Kirstine was a second shooter for the day who went to Mark’s house for his preps. The ceremony at the Garrison was lovely with Rev. Howard running…
Kim & Sam – Sebel Pier One – Sydney Harbour
Kim & Sam had a beautiful cruise on Sydney Harbour for their wedding ceremony and reception, and with family and friends from out of town and overseas it was the perfect way to get everyone together and see Sydney at it’s best! Kim was getting ready at the Sebel Pier One and the shots we got with her veil at the window look amazing! It was then a very short walk to the Walsh Bay wharf and all aboard the Aussie Legend – a Matilda Cruises ship to get some shots of Sam before we picked up everyone else up at the Man of War Steps next to the Opera…
Courtney & Scott – Manly Golf Club
Courtney & Scott had a beautiful spring Sydney day for their wedding. I started with Courtney’s preparations at an apartment in Manly before heading to Manly Golf Club for shots with Scott and the boys. Their ceremony was on the 12th tee – a fantastic position and it looked a picture in the bright sunlight. The ceremony was conducted by Louise Robinson and she had kept things very relaxed with plenty of laughs and smiles from Courtney & Scott. We did a group shot & family photos on the 12th tee before some shots around the golf course with the bridal party. We got some great photos! The reception looked…
Sophie & Richard – Killara Fiveways Uniting Church – Lavender Bay – Luna Park Crystal Palace Ballroom
I started Sophie & Richard’s wedding day with preparation photos at Sophie’s parent’s house in Wollenstonecraft. It was then off to Killara ‘Fiveways’ Uniting Church for photos with Richard and the guys before the ceremony started. Killara Uniting is a lovely old stone church situated on a rather unique five-way intersection. After the ceremony and family photos we headed to Lavender Bay for some location shots. It was then a short walk around to Luna Park where the reception was being held in the Crystal Palace Ballroom. A real bonus of having your reception at Luna Park is you are able to take photos inside the fun park itself and…
Kyara & Ray – Manly Golf Club
Kyara & Ray were recently married at Manly Golf Club. We did some preparation shots with Kyara at the Manly Pacific Hotel, and the make up was by Rebecca at Newell Image. Rebecca has been at quite a few weddings with me and she always does fantastic work! The day was a bit wet (what has happened to the weather in Sydney lately?!) so the ceremony was held inside at the Manly Golf Club Chapel – a really great back up option for rain. Their celebrant was Jan Littlejohn who conducted a very lovely ceremony. The rain cleared by the time we went outside for photos on the golf course.…
