Nguyen & Tan – St Mary’s Cathedral – Hyde Park – Sydney Tower

Nguyen & Tan were married at the beautiful St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney – it was a rainy day but thankfully it cleared up by the time the ceremony finished. We got some great photos including some cameo appearances by a couple of Mardi Gras groups. The reception at the Sydney Sky Tower was stunning with amazing views of the city. A great day – congrats guys. Visit my facebook page McKay Photography Facebook here or my main website McKay Wedding Photography Sydney here. Anita & Calvin – The Crypt at St Mary’s Cathedral – Doltone House Pyrmont

Anita & Calvin had an awesome Sydney summer day for their wedding – the sky was brilliant blue and everything went perfectly from the preparations right through to an amazing reception. The ceremony was held at the Crypt at St Mary’s Cathedral and we did location photos at St Mary’s, Hyde Park and the Opera House before making our way to Doltone House Pyrmont at Jones Bay Wharf. An amazing day! Friends and family can log-in to Anita & Calvin’s gallery by clicking here. Please visit my facebook page here or my McKay Wedding Photography Sydney.

Sarah & Mark – St Stephen’s Church Newtown – Gold Room L’Aqua Cockle Bay

My first wedding of the second half of 2012 and what a fantastic way to start with Sarah & Mark! It was a wonderful day and Sydney turned on a real cracker weather wise – so nice to get some spring weather so early. I started with Sarah’s preparations at home then off to St Stephen’s Church in Newtown. It’s a beautiful church and the ceremony started with two flower girls and a page boy who did a great job. Roger is the minister at St Stephen’s and was outstanding at guiding the ceremony and making everyone very welcome. St Stephen’s is a great spot for some location photos then we headed into the city to Hyde Park and the Rocks area. Sunset in August is around 5.30pm so you lose the light fairly early – we made the most of it and still had time for night shots around Read more…

Margaret & Ben – St George Cathedral Church Redfern – Doltone House Pyrmont

I started the day at Margaret’s parents house and they had an awesome sitting room for some great shots of Margaret and her lovely Collete Dinnigan dress. The ceremony was held at St George Cathedral Church – a beautiful orthodox church in Redfern – and the colours and details inside look fantastic in the photos. I love the expression on Ben’s face after Margaret made her entrance. We headed to Hyde Park for some location photos and also did some just outside the reception venue Doltone House in Pyrmont. We got some great photos with a very relaxed & funny bridal party, the wharf area at Pyrmont is a good spot and it’s perfect that you dont need to travel to reach it. The night went very well with John Elton the MC doing a great job…. the best man running around the room reving up the crowd was classic. Read more…

Brooke & Phil – St Andrew’s Cathedral – Hyde Park – Star Room Cockle Bay

Brooke & Phil were such a great couple – full of life, fun and smiles! They were after a relaxed (and slightly crazy) style for their day and it wasnt hard to achieve with some real characters in the bridal party. I did preparations photos for both Brooke & Phil at the Medina Apartments – right across the road from the church. I really like doing the groom preparations as this part of the day is often missed and the guys were a lot of fun. The ceremony was at St Andrew’s Cathedral right next to Sydney Town Hall and it’s a simply stunning place to be married. The architecture of old churches (St Andrew’s dates from 1868) is something very special and it certainly made Brooke’s entrance and walk down the aisle even more breath taking. After the ceremony we headed to Hyde Park for location photos and we Read more…

Lucia & Max – St Martha’s Strathfield – Hyde Park – Watersedge

Lucia & Max were married at St Martha’s in Strathfield – a lovely church I was at several years ago and it’s always to visit a place again. I started the day at Lucia’s house and we got some great shots. The ceremony went very well and afterwards we drove into the city for photos at Hyde Park – a great spot and the shots look fantastic! We headed down to the Harbour Bridge area before the reception at Watersedge. It’s a beautiful reception venue right on the Harbour and the table decorations were first class. The cake looked amazing too! It was a lovely night – such a great spot to be as the sun sets on the Harbour Bridge. Video for the day was by Shane at Sydney Classic Productions – he had some excellent creative ideas and was really great to work with! The flowers were also Read more…

Stephanie & Craig – Trinity Grammar Chapel – Hyde Park – Sergeants Mess

Stephanie & Craig were married at Trinity Grammar School Chapel in Summer Hill. It’s a really lovely chapel and the ceremony was beautiful with plenty of emotion and some good laughs too! After a group shot and family photos we did a few shots on the school grounds before heading into the city to Hyde Park. It’s is a great spot for location photos and we got some really cool shots before a short stop at Kirribilli and then on to the reception. Stephanie & Craig’s reception was held at a new venue on the Sydney wedding scene – the Sergeants’ Mess in Chowder Bay. The Sergeants Mess opened in the middle of the year so this was my first wedding here – I was really impressed! The location is fantastic with panoramic views over Sydney Harbour and Sydney Heads, and the pre-dinner drinks area and main dining room are Read more…

Kate & Brendan – Anglican Parish Hunters Hill – Royal Automobile Club RACA

Kate & Brendan had a beautiful warm spring day for their wedding. The ceremony was at Anglican Parish of Hunter’s Hill – a really lovely old church located in the heart of Hunter’s Hill and surrounded by trees. I was very impressed by the unique setting of the church – it had a very English county kind of feel. The reception was at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia – aka RACA – so we headed into the city and did some location shots at Hyde Park and the Opera House…. and of course some inside the RACA itself. Check out the shot of Kate & Brendan with a giant bubble at Hyde Park, very cool! It was a great day, congratulations guys and enjoy the honeymoon! The very cool cars were from Instyle Wedding Cars. Stationery for the day from order of services through to the table settings and Read more…

Hayley & Ben – Mary Immaculate Waverly – Sebel Pier One

Hayley & Ben had a super windy day for their wedding but at least we missed the big dust storms that hit Sydney recently! It actually made for some great shots of Hayley’s veil flying vertically, horizontally….. and all other angles in between. The ceremony was at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Waverly, a really beautiful church and the ceremony was lovely. There was plenty of laughs throughout as the little flower girl very seriously kept asking everyone to “ssshhhh”!! We left the church and headed to Hyde Park where the wind wasn’t in effect and Ben showed off his very impressive signature lifting moves (apparently he’ll lift anyone, anywhere, for any reason). We also went to Martin Place and then down to the Rocks area under the Harbour Bridge where it was blowing a howling cold gale! Needless to say we didn’t hang around for many photos so it Read more…

Keryn & James – St Anne’s Strathfield – Lauriston House Dundas Valley

Keryn & James were married at St Anne’s Anglican Church in Strathfield and before the ceremony we did preparation shots with Keryn at the Mecure Hotel in Parramatta. For location photos we headed into Sydney and went to Hyde Park and the Rocks area. We got some great shots! By the way – in winter months the earlier sunset usually allows for night shots before the reception. So we waited until it was dark and got some great photos with the Harbour Bridge! Something you just cant do in summer. The reception was at Lauriston House in Dundas Valley. Lauriston House is a beautiful heritage villa with lovely old-world features and a Victorian style fountain out the front. I have to say the staff were the most organised and helpful I have ever come across at a wedding – the night went so well! The resident MC was outstanding (he Read more…

Elaine & Joel – St Andrew’s Cathedral – RACA

Elaine and Joel were married on a fine winter’s day at St Andrew’s Cathedral, right next to the Town Hall in the CBD. It’s a very impressive church, simply stunning inside and out. Before hand I took some great preparation shots with Elaine, the house she was getting ready in was fantastic for photos! The ceremony at St Andrew’s was beautiful, and a song performed by a friend (who is an opera singer) was a real highlight. There was some time for afternoon tea at the cathedral and then we left for photos at Martin Place, Hyde Park and the Rocks outside the Park Hyatt right on sunset. We waited for it to get dark and got some beautiful night shots with the Harbour Bridge! The reception was at the RACA on Macquarie Street. It’s a period venue with beautiful architecture and fittings they just dont make anymore. Thanks for Read more…

Liz & Dom – St Phillips – Castlereagh Boutique Hotel

Liz & Dom’s wedding was like something out of Lord of the Rings – maybe it was the church, or maybe it was Dom’s ring… or maybe it was just because these guys were just so super excited about being married it all seemed like a wonderful fairy tale! The ceremony was at St Phillips Anglican Church which is actually Australia’s oldest church site where the first Christian service was held in 1788. It’s on York Street just as you get on/off the Harbour Bridge so right in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. The current church was built in 1856 and has very similar architecture to St Mark’s in Darling Point and St Thomas’ in North Sydney, and all three churches are amazing. We took photos at the church before heading to Hyde Park (after a heavy shower of rain) and then Martin Place. The reception was at the Castlereagh Read more…

Catherine & Nathan were married at St Joseph’s College in early October, we did location photos around Hyde Park and the QVB, and the reception was at the QVB Tea Rooms. We got some great shots – it was very hard for me to choose just a few for this post!
