Daini & Luke – Jonah’s Whale Beach
Jonah’s is an awesome wedding venue perched high above Whale Beach, right up the end of the Northern Beaches peninsula. The views are simply stunning and combined with first class food & service it’s an amazing place to be married. Daini & Luke had a picture perfect blue sky day for their wedding in February. Daini & her bridesmaids were getting ready at the on site accommodation (another great thing about Jonah’s) and I loved her stylish blue flowers & hair piece, and the beautiful dress of course. Luke arrived in a stretch limo and not long after the girls made their entrance down the stairs to the ceremony location.…
Eva & Ren – St Thomas’ North Sydney – Gunner’s Barracks
Eva & Ren were married in March at the spectacular St Thomas’ church in North Sydney. To start the day I did preparation photos with Eva and we got some great shots of her in a really beautiful dress & veil. Eva’s entrance at St Thomas’ was stunning and the ceremony was conducted by Revd. Richard Brown. We did some photos around St Thomas’ itself before a stops at Lavendar Bay, Balmoral Beach, and Georges Heights. The reception was a favourite venue of mine, the Gunner’s Barracks in Mosman. Kim from KISS Weddings was a great help on the day and I can highly recommend her wedding planning! You can…
Alena & Pierre – Georges Heights – Gunner’s Barracks
Alena & Pierre’s story is like something out of a romance novel: they met & fell in love in Paris while Alena was working at her father’s cafe! In many ways their wedding at the Gunners Barracks completed the fairy tale with a beautiful memorable day. After preparation photos at a stunning Bayview house I headed to the Gunners Barracks. The ceremony was held up at Georges Heights and the views from here over Sydney Harbour are amazing. The ceremony was filled with laughter and spoken in both English and French. We took photos around Georges Heights and the Barracks before the reception. The Barracks always looks amazing but I…
Amanda & Ben – Marie Regina Church Avalon – Moby’s Whale Beach
A great location for the preparations can really add to the photos and I loved the house where Amanda was getting ready – it had a very cool beach style that suited the wedding day really well. The ceremony was at the Marie Regina Church in Avalon and I took a few shots of Ben and the cool cars before Amanda pulled up in a combi van! The ceremony had plenty of laughs and the bubbles outside the church were a big hit. After the ceremony we headed to the Palm Beach Ferry Wharf for our first location shoot, and then to another wharf nearby before arriving at Whale Beach.…
P & B – Ceretti Chapel St Patrick’s Manly – Long Reef Golf Club
Pascale & Brett’s wedding was an awesome wedding that definitely packed a lot into one day! I started with both Brett & Pascale’s preparation photos and got some great shots of all the fun they were having simply getting ready. The ceremony was at the beautiful Cerretti Chapel at St Patrick’s in Manly – a stunning location both inside the chapel and outside with impressive buildings and views over Manly. The ceremony went very well – I loved the look on Brett’s face as Pascale walked in and the big hug outside the chapel once they were married. After photos on site at St Patrick’s we headed to the rock…
Allison & Nick – Tea Room Gunners Barracks Mosman
My first wedding of 2011 was in the first week of January and it was a beautiful summers day. I covered both Allison & Nick’s preparations before the afternoon ceremony at the Gunners Barracks which was held in the courtyard area. The Barracks is a fantastic venue – one of my favourites – and the courtyard has a lovely intimate feel. A great thing about the Barracks is you don’t need to leave for location photos – Georges Heights above the Barracks and the stone wall & door on the lawn area are great places and all within a very easy walk. We got some great shots of Allison &…
Jane & Ashley – Athol Hall
Jane & Ashley were married at Athol Hall – a fabulous wedding venue right on the Harbour set on secluded garden grounds. I started with Jane’s preparations and her vintage style worked in perfectly at her parent’s house. Heirloom items at a wedding are such a wonderful link to family history and the head piece Jane wore was also worn by her mother and grandmother. I also loved the green shoes, very cool! The ceremony was in the amphitheatre area at Atholl Hall. There was light rain falling on and off which added to the lush greenness but thankfully it stayed away for the ceremony itself. Jane’s entrance was lovely…
Sarah & Jean-Marc – Ceretti Chapel St Patrick’s – Opera House – Guillaume’s at Bennelong
Hold on to your hat as this wedding is HUGE! Sarah & Jean-Marc live in the UAE so their wedding had a fabulous combination of things from all over the world mixed in with the very best of what Sydney has to offer. Mikala has been shooting a number of weddings with us and she attended the boys preparations. Jean-Marc is originally from England and his friends and family mainly from overseas so we got some shots at the apartment before heading down to Kirribilli for photos with the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. I went to Sarah’s place for her preparations and I was literally gob smacked when I saw…
Jessica & Adrian – All Saints Hunters Hill – The Rocks – RACA
I started Jessica & Adrian’s wedding day with the boys at the Shangri-La Hotel and there were lots of laughs as they got ready. Jessica was nearby at the Observatory Hotel – an old period hotel and a great place to get ready with heavy draped curtains and beautiful mirrors. The ceremony was at Anglican Parish All Saints Church in Hunters Hill, a lovely church set on very green & spacious grounds. Jessica’s entrance was amazing and I loved the look on Adrian’s face when she arrived at the front of the aisle. The ceremony went well and hats off to some good improvisation by the groomsmen to use their…
Katrina & David – Orso – Balmoral Beach
People often ask what happens to the photos if it rains on your wedding day…. of course, there isnt a lot you can really do but Katrina & David’s wedding is a great example that rain is not a disaster. The ceremony was held at Orso Restaurant – a great wedding venue on the Spit Road in Mosman. We went to nearby Balmoral Beach for photos and got some great shots in between light showers of rain….. and with a lot of help from groomsmen keeping us all relatively dry with umbrellas! Congratulations guys!
Astrid & Steve – Pymble Catholic Church – Pymble Golf Club
Astrid & Steve were married towards the end of October and I had a blast photographing their wedding day! I started with Astrid’s preparations before the ceremony at the beautiful Pymble Catholic Church. Everything went very well at the ceremony: Steve looked gob smacked when Astrid walked in, their Kiwi friend had everyone laughing, Steve’s choir sang beautifully, and we even had a decent shower of rain. After the church we left in the very cool Mustangs for location shots at the unique Rose Seilder House – a modernist designed home with some really interesting features and all well preserved by the Historic Houses Trust. I loved the outdoor mural,…
Nicola & Simon – Jonah’s Whale Beach
You simply can’t beat Jonah’s perched high above Whale Beach for stunning views and amazing food – it’s a great wedding venue and I love shooting there. Nicola & Simon had a beautiful day with bright blue skies so you couldn’t ask for more (especially with Sydney’s weather being very wet lately). Nicola’s preparation photos were done on-site at Jonah’s and the celebrant was Stephen Perry who did a fantastic job getting lots of laughs from the bridal party. The ceremony went very well and after some mingling with guests we did location photos at the Palm Beach Ferry Wharf and Palm Beach itself. It was a great day, so…
Rachel & Michael – Tea Room Gunners Barracks
The Gunner’s Barracks is one of my favourite venues so it was great to be back there several times in October – firstly for Rachel & Michael’s wedding. I started with Rachel’s preparations and I love the shot of their dog looking very sad and left out! At least he was able to join us for a pre-wedding shoot a couple of weeks earlier. Rachel’s Jimmy Choo’s were very cool too. The ceremony was at the Barrack’s on the downstairs lawn area and it was beautifully decorated. The ceremony went very well and we did photos at the wall and at George’s Heights above the Barracks before heading back to…
Paulina & Nick – Botanic Gardens – QVB Tea Rooms
Phew, it was a super busy October and as such the blog has had zero attention! So time to show some recent weddings, starting with Paulina & Nick! I began the day with Paulina’s preparations at the Shangri-La Hotel, so we had a great view of all the rain rolling in! I loved the reminder that Nick put on Paulina’s iphone – very sweet! It wasnt looking good for an outdoor ceremony in the Botanic Gardens but with some positive belief Paulina & Nick decided to chance it anyway…..and it nearly paid off! Paulina made a beautiful (dry) entrance and then half way through the ceremony the rain came pouring…
Jodie & Amos – St Thomas’ North Sydney – Lavender Bay – The Rocks – Angelo’s
Jodie & Amos’ wedding was another great day and the last for me in September – what a month! Jodie’s preparations were at Rydges Hotel in North Sydney before the ceremony at nearby St Thomas’ Anglican Church. It’s simply a stunning place to be married and Jodie’s entrance down the very long aisle was spectacular. The Revd. Richard James conducted a lovely ceremony – I overheard one guest outside saying “he really nailed it”! After mingling outside St Thomas’ and some group shots we left and did photos with the bridal party at Lavender Bay, before also heading into the Rocks. Jodie & Amos were such a great couple and…
Krystyna & Heath – Gerringong – Culburra Surf Club
It was down the south coast for Krystyna & Heath’s wedding a couple of weeks ago! I started preparation shots at the Bellachara Boutique Hotel in Gerringong. It was a great place to shoot and Krystyna’s dress looked amazing. The cermony was also in Gerringong at St Mary Star of The Sea. It’s a beautiful church set up on a hill above the ocean. We did some photos with the bridal party on Culburra Beach as the sun began to set and also a few shot at Krystyna’s grandparents house that overlooked Culburra Beach. The reception was at the Culburra Surf Club and it was beautifully styled by She Designs…
Leonie & Steve – Long Reef Golf Club
It was a beautiful spring day for Leonie & Steve’s wedding at one of my favourite venues Long Reef Golf Club. I photographed Leonie’s preparations at the Bellagio Apartments in Narrabeen before heading to Long Reef Golf Club. You cant beat being so close to the beach for a wedding ceremony and everything went really well. The minister was Irish with that lovely accent and it was a nice link to the family that had come all the way from Ireland for the wedding. We did some location photos with the bridal party on Long Reef Beach itself near the rocks and took some golf carts up to the headland…
Margaret & Ben – St George Cathedral Church Redfern – Doltone House Pyrmont
I started the day at Margaret’s parents house and they had an awesome sitting room for some great shots of Margaret and her lovely Collete Dinnigan dress. The ceremony was held at St George Cathedral Church – a beautiful orthodox church in Redfern – and the colours and details inside look fantastic in the photos. I love the expression on Ben’s face after Margaret made her entrance. We headed to Hyde Park for some location photos and also did some just outside the reception venue Doltone House in Pyrmont. We got some great photos with a very relaxed & funny bridal party, the wharf area at Pyrmont is a good…
Alicia & Neil – St Columbkilles Corrimal – City Beach Wollongong
Alicia & Neil’s wedding was in Wollongong and I started at the Novotel Northbeach for Alicia’s preparations. Her dress was really beautiful and you can see the awesome view from the room in one of the photos. The ceremony at held at nearby Corrimal at St Columbkilles Church. The father Dom Murphy was fantastic and it all went very smoothly – just a few tears from Mum and the bridesmaids. We went to the Wollongong Botanic Gardens for some great photos amongst the spring flowers and also at the wharf / lighthouse near City Beach. The afternoon light was spectacular and produced some amazing images. The big surf crashing against…
Jessica & Sean – St Charles Borromeo Ryde – Lavender Bay – Le Montage
I met Jessica when she was a bridesmaid at Rebecca & Sean’s wedding last year and this week she also married a Sean! It was such a fun day with some real characters in the bridal party – see Sean’s zombie attack outside the church below for starters – and it was very cool to see familiar faces from last year. I started the day at Jessica’s parents house where their spring flowers were in beautiful full bloom. The ceremony was St Charles Borromeo Church in Ryde – a really lovely sandstone church built in the mid 1800’s. The reception was at Le Montage in Lilyfield and this venue has…
