Ada & Aylwin – Curzon Hall – Martin Place – The Rocks
It was raining cats & dogs on the day Ada & Aylwin were married but thankfully during breaks in the showers we managed to get all the shots we wanted at each location! It just goes to show you can get great photos on a wet day if you have time to wait for the clouds to clear. The day started early with games at Ada’s parents’ house. Aylwin and the groomsmen had to sing a song, make some rather odd tasting rice & wasabi balls and undergo a thorough interrogation by the girls! There was a tea ceremony held at Ada’s house with her family and also at the…
Jamie-Lee & Alex – Mona Vale Golf Club – Mona Vale Beach
Jamie-Lee & Alex had a beautiful day for their wedding at the Mona Vale Golf Club. The view from the lawn in front of the club where they held the ceremony is quite spectacular, it’s such a great spot! We then went to nearby Mona Vale Beach for some fantastic shots on the beach, around the rock pools, and caught a lovely sunset before returning to the reception. It was a really cool day, congrats guys!
Louise & Paul – Shark Island – The Rocks – Argyle Cellars
Louise & Paul originally hail from Scotland and Wales so it’s only natural a bag piper should lead Louise’s walk down the aisle….. and then also come with them on the location photos….. and then bag pipe at Kirribilli by the Habour Bridge….. and then stand on the steps of the Opera House piping away to the surprise & delight of all the tourists in the area! It’s only natural, so I wonder if he went with them on honeymoon too?! Check out the short & shaky video clip I took with the 5D MkII at the end of the photos. The day was a lot of fun and I…
Hayley & Ben – Mary Immaculate Waverly – Sebel Pier One
Hayley & Ben had a super windy day for their wedding but at least we missed the big dust storms that hit Sydney recently! It actually made for some great shots of Hayley’s veil flying vertically, horizontally….. and all other angles in between. The ceremony was at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Waverly, a really beautiful church and the ceremony was lovely. There was plenty of laughs throughout as the little flower girl very seriously kept asking everyone to “ssshhhh”!! We left the church and headed to Hyde Park where the wind wasn’t in effect and Ben showed off his very impressive signature lifting moves (apparently he’ll lift anyone, anywhere,…
Rachelle & Steve – Brennan Park – Balmoral Beach – Orso
Rachelle & Steve had a beautiful ceremony in Brennan Park in Wollenstonecraft. It was a lovely setting and the emotions ran high from Rachelle’s entrance to their walk back down the aisle. At the end of the aisle friends spelt out a congratulations with photos of themselves as letters – a very cool idea. Before the ceremony we did preparations shots at Rachelle’s parent’s house and just had to get a shot with one of their impressive tea sets! We did photos with the bridal party at Brennan Park before heading to Balmoral Beach. Now, I’m not usually a car guy but the 1957 Chevy’s from Ungaros Wedding Cars were…
Julie & Immanuel – St Mark’s Arncliffe – Doltone House Slyvannia Waters
Julie & Immanuel had a fantastic wedding day that just didnt stop! It was an early start at Julie’s parents’ house as they hosted the traditional morning celebrations. The highlights here included a special bread being made, plenty of music & dancing, and Immanuel’s best man arriving with Julie’s shoes -which didnt seem to fit until they were filled with $50 notes! We had time to cover Immanuel’s preparations nearby and then it was off to St Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Arncliffe. It was a beautiful ceremony and after releasing some white doves we headed off for location shots. We got some amazing photos at at Bradley’s Head and…
Keryn & James – St Anne’s Strathfield – Lauriston House Dundas Valley
Keryn & James were married at St Anne’s Anglican Church in Strathfield and before the ceremony we did preparation shots with Keryn at the Mecure Hotel in Parramatta. For location photos we headed into Sydney and went to Hyde Park and the Rocks area. We got some great shots! By the way – in winter months the earlier sunset usually allows for night shots before the reception. So we waited until it was dark and got some great photos with the Harbour Bridge! Something you just cant do in summer. The reception was at Lauriston House in Dundas Valley. Lauriston House is a beautiful heritage villa with lovely old-world features…
Kate & Michael – St Stephens – Q Station
Kate & Michael were married at St Stephen’s Church in Willoughby. It’s a lovely church with plenty of room outside for everyone to mingle…. the bubble blowing was a real hit with the kids! Their reception was at the Q Station in Manly so we did some location photos at a couple of great lookouts on North Head. We also took some shots right on sunset down by the Q Station wharf before the pre-dinner drinks in the Former Hospital Room. The main reception dinner was just up the hill in the Governor Bourke Room, a great venue with plenty of room inside. Congratulations Kate & Michael!
Catherine & Josh – St Brigids – Royal Motor Yacht Club
Catherine & Josh were married at St Brigid’s Church in Coogee – it was very handy being just around the corner from where they live! St Brigid’s is a beautiful church, light and bright and the ceremony was really lovely. We did some location photos at Clovelly near the Surf Club / Gordon’s Bay before heading to Centennial Park where the setting sun made for some great shots! The reception was at the Royal Motor Yacht Club, a great place with fantastic views over the water. Congratulations guys! The wedding cars were from Silver Cloud.
Elaine & Joel – St Andrew’s Cathedral – RACA
Elaine and Joel were married on a fine winter’s day at St Andrew’s Cathedral, right next to the Town Hall in the CBD. It’s a very impressive church, simply stunning inside and out. Before hand I took some great preparation shots with Elaine, the house she was getting ready in was fantastic for photos! The ceremony at St Andrew’s was beautiful, and a song performed by a friend (who is an opera singer) was a real highlight. There was some time for afternoon tea at the cathedral and then we left for photos at Martin Place, Hyde Park and the Rocks outside the Park Hyatt right on sunset. We waited…
Charlie & Rob – Q Station – Manly Beach
Charlie & Rob originally hail from Scotland so this was a real Scottish wedding with kilts, whiskey and wonderful Scottish accents! We also seemed to get a good dose of Scottish weather as it rained quite hard for most of the day! The ceremony was at a new wedding venue in Manly, the Q Station. It’s a great location situated on North Head and has beautiful old wooden buildings and fantastic views out across Sydney Harbour. Due to the rain the ceremony was held indoors, Jan Littlejohn was the celebrant and as always she was really lovely. Outdoor photos were looking unlikely but a break in the clouds gave us…
Rachel & Rob – Christ Church – Orso Wedding
Rachel and Rob were married at Christ Church in Lavendar Bay, a spectacular old church with beautiful stone and lovely trees outside. Location photos were at Kirribilli and Balmoral Beach – we just missed a heavy shower of rain in between but it made for an amazing shot with a rainbow at Balmoral! The reception was at Orso at the Spit. This is a great wedding venue and the arrival of the bridal party on the Orso boat is really unique. There was more rain and lightning that night….. and not just outside but on the dance floor as Rachel & Rob performed THE BEST first dance I have ever…
Melinda & Thomas – Pymble Ladies’ College Chapel – Pymble Golf Club
Melinda and Thomas were married at the Pymble Ladies’ College Chapel. The chapel is lovely and the ceremony was just beautiful – a real highlight was the song performed by one of Melinda’s bridesmaids. The shower of petals that greeted them as they walked down the Chapel steps was also very impressive! We drove to Long Reef for location photos and found some beautiful light at the end of the day…… and a curious pelican! Then it was back to the reception at the Pymble Golf Club. Congrats to you both!
Anna & Barry – Freshwater View Reserve – Freshwater SLSC
Anna & Barry had a truly wonderful wedding day, starting with the ceremony at Freshwater View Reserve. It was a perfect day with sunny weather and the priest (a real mad Irishman) was absolutely hilarious! I have never seen anything like it, he made the ceremony a lot of fun. We did some location shots at Curl Curl Beach and also Freshwater Beach before the reception at the Freshwater Surf Club. Congratulations Anna & Barry! A special mention for the flowers, they were really stunning, made by Fiona at Japonica.
Kath & Nathan – Sacred Heart Cathedral – Shoal Bay Resort
I had a weekend away from Sydney for Kath & Nathan’s wedding. The ceremony was at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newcastle, a really beautiful church. We then drove north to Nelson Bay for some location photos and the reception at the Shoal Bay Resort. It was a great day and everyone partied hard into the night!
Kelly & Justin – Botanic Gardens – Doltone House
Kelly & Justin were married at one of the best positions in the Botanic Gardens – the Bennelong Lawn right above the Opera House! It was a lovely ceremony and we did some shots at the Opera House and Martin Place before heading to Doltone House in Pyrmont for the reception. Congratulations to you both! The wedding planner for the day was Amanda from Signature Wedding Planners. Amanda was really nice and the day went super smoothly!
Rebecca & Grant – Athol Hall – Bradley’s Head
Rebecca & Grant were married at Athol Hall, a really great venue for a wedding with a huge front lawn and amazing views over Sydney Harbour. They had both spent some time in England so the London cabs that picked Rebecca up were a brilliant choice for a wedding car! The ceremony itself was in the ampitheatre area at Athol Hall, and afterwards we did location photos at nearby Bradley’s Head. It was a beautiful afternoon and we got some great shots before heading back to Athol Hall for the reception. Congratulations guys!
Chloe & Brett – Manly Pacific – Freshwater View Reserve – Pilu
Chloe & Brett were married at a favourite outdoor ceremony location of mine – Freshwater View Reserve. It’s a great spot for a picnic, or some quiet time taking in the amazing view…… or a wedding ceremony! Preparation photos were at the Manly Pacific Hotel (the newly refurbished rooms were great) and it was so lovely to see the family super excited & emotional about the day! The ceremony at Freshwater View Reserve was beautiful, then we did location shots at Curl Curl Beach and Freshwater Beach. As you can see we had amazing weather and a lot of fun! The reception was at Pilu Restaurant, a great venue right…
Rebecca & Sean – Long Reef Golf Club – Narrabeen Rock Pools
Rebecca & Sean were married on a perfect Northern Beaches’ summer day at Long Reef Golf Club. Long Reef is a favourite venue of mine – you cant beat being so close to the ocean and there are plenty of great photo locations very close by! The day was a lot of fun, with plenty of laughs from the bridal party. We did preparation photos in Narrabeen with Rebecca, the ceremony at Long Reef, then jumped in the car for some location photos at the Narrabeen Rock Pools, and then back to Long Reef headland for a fantastic sunset! The last few shots of the day on the headland are…
Chantell & Lachlan – Allegro Function Centre Kenthurst
Chantell & Lachlan were married at the Allegro Function Centre in Kenthurst. We did the preparation photos at the Sir Stamford at Circular Quay, hands down one of the best hotels for getting ready in! The ornate interiors are really beautiful and the rooms are big so there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and get some great shots. It was then a fair drive to Allegro in Kenthurst, but well worth the trip. It’s a really lovely wedding venue with a ‘secret garden’ feel outside and the Spanish styled main room is warm and inviting at night. The area for ceremonies is set in the trees with…
