Suzanna & Tim’s beautiful wedding at the Gunners Barracks was a special one for me as I had photographed Tim’s sisters wedding a few years ago. It’s so nice seeing the same family & friends and catching up on what’s happened in the years between. The day went so well from lot of laughs during the preparations through to a beautiful ceremony in the Gunners Barracks courtyard, great location photos around the Barracks, and a fun relaxed afternoon reception with lots of dancing and some beautiful speeches. Ellie & Travers had an awesome day at the Gunners Barracks – a stunning wedding venue and with friends & family from the UK the weather showed off Sydney Harbour under perfect blue skies. A great day so congrats guys! Video for the day was by Mark at Moving Presentations – an awesome person to shoot with and always produces amazing work! Maigen & Tim were recently married at the Gunners Barracks and it was an awesome day! Here are some the highlights…. Visit my facebook page here or my main website here.
Carla & Tim had a vintage themed wedding and the Gunners Barracks was the perfect venue for this stylish step back in time! Tim looked very smart in his waistcoat and the boys in braces, and Carla had stunning make up and hair reminiscent of a 1930’s movie star with her bridesmaids in beautiful blue dresses. The day was a little cloudy and threatening some rain but thankfully we had no rain for the ceremony in the courtyard at the Gunners Barracks. It’s a great spot for windy days and in the event of rain you can always take cover under the awning. The celebrant was Jan Littlejohn who conducted a lovely ceremony as she always does. After some bridal party photos down at the famous red Gunners Barracks wall we headed up to Georges Height for some great photos of the harbour and views to north and south head. The Read more…
Eva & Ren were married in March at the spectacular St Thomas’ church in North Sydney. To start the day I did preparation photos with Eva and we got some great shots of her in a really beautiful dress & veil. Eva’s entrance at St Thomas’ was stunning and the ceremony was conducted by Revd. Richard Brown. We did some photos around St Thomas’ itself before a stops at Lavendar Bay, Balmoral Beach, and Georges Heights. The reception was a favourite venue of mine, the Gunner’s Barracks in Mosman. Kim from KISS Weddings was a great help on the day and I can highly recommend her wedding planning! You can become a fan of McKay Photography on Facebook.
Alena & Pierre’s story is like something out of a romance novel: they met & fell in love in Paris while Alena was working at her father’s cafe! In many ways their wedding at the Gunners Barracks completed the fairy tale with a beautiful memorable day. After preparation photos at a stunning Bayview house I headed to the Gunners Barracks. The ceremony was held up at Georges Heights and the views from here over Sydney Harbour are amazing. The ceremony was filled with laughter and spoken in both English and French. We took photos around Georges Heights and the Barracks before the reception. The Barracks always looks amazing but I loved the very personal (often French) elements that Alena & Pierre included in the room such as chalk board menus, cooking herbs (they own a restaurant in Paris), French wine (of course), and even some huge bellows at the front Read more…
My first wedding of 2011 was in the first week of January and it was a beautiful summers day. I covered both Allison & Nick’s preparations before the afternoon ceremony at the Gunners Barracks which was held in the courtyard area. The Barracks is a fantastic venue – one of my favourites – and the courtyard has a lovely intimate feel. A great thing about the Barracks is you don’t need to leave for location photos – Georges Heights above the Barracks and the stone wall & door on the lawn area are great places and all within a very easy walk. We got some great shots of Allison & Nick who just didn’t stop smiling and laughing – they are such a great couple that have so much fun together! The amazing flowers were by Whitehouse Flowers in Manly and Janelle from Saltwater Weddings did excellent work as usual! Read more…
The Gunner’s Barracks is one of my favourite venues so it was great to be back there several times in October – firstly for Rachel & Michael’s wedding. I started with Rachel’s preparations and I love the shot of their dog looking very sad and left out! At least he was able to join us for a pre-wedding shoot a couple of weeks earlier. Rachel’s Jimmy Choo’s were very cool too. The ceremony was at the Barrack’s on the downstairs lawn area and it was beautifully decorated. The ceremony went very well and we did photos at the wall and at George’s Heights above the Barracks before heading back to the reception. Congrats guys! Like to share this with a friend? Kenney & Brett were married in early March at one of my favourite venues – the Tea Room at the Gunner’s Barracks. The ceremony was held at the lookout area of George’s Heights, and the sunny day made Sydney Harbour a very beautiful backdrop! We did some quick photos up the top before a lunch time reception at the Barracks, then more photos at Bradley’s Head afterwards. Congratulations guys!
We’ve had some wild weather in Sydney so far in 2009 and Anouska and Darren had to contend with a huge storm that brought high winds and heaps of rain on their wedding day. However, the Gunners Barracks has a great courtyard area that is sheltered from the wind so everything went ahead just fine. It was a really beautiful ceremony with plenty of tears and laughter….. and the emotion continued right through the night. A wonderful day and some crazy dancing at the end!
Vicki & Ben were married at one of my favourite venues – the Tea Room at the Gunner’s Barracks. It’s a fantastic location with options to hold a ceremony on the terrace lawn or in the courtyard….or even inside on a wet day. There are some great photo locations and the views over Sydney Harbour are amazing! It was a really nice day and we got some great shots, so well done and congratulations guys!
Here are some shots from Kim & Phil’s wedding back in September. It was a beautiful Sydney day, clear blue skies and the ceremony at Bradley’s Head was just fantastic! The reception was at the Gunner’s Barracks, a really lovely location with awesome views over the Harbour. Congratulations guys and thanks for fabulous day!
