Katie & Mark – St Bedes Pyrmont – Observatory Hill – Wolfies Italian Village
Katie and Mark had a stunning winter day for their wedding – it’s a great time of year…. as long as the rain & cold stays away. I started early in the day at Katie’s place – the view of the Harbour was amazing and the girls had loads of fun getting ready. It was an early start because the ceremony at St Bede’s in Pyrmont was at 10am. The ceremony went well and we left soon after the ceremony for some location photos at Observatory Hill and the Rocks before the lunch time reception at Wolfies in the Italian Village. It was a fantastic reception with great speeches and…
Sarah & Mark – St Stephen’s Church Newtown – Gold Room L’Aqua Cockle Bay
My first wedding of the second half of 2012 and what a fantastic way to start with Sarah & Mark! It was a wonderful day and Sydney turned on a real cracker weather wise – so nice to get some spring weather so early. I started with Sarah’s preparations at home then off to St Stephen’s Church in Newtown. It’s a beautiful church and the ceremony started with two flower girls and a page boy who did a great job. Roger is the minister at St Stephen’s and was outstanding at guiding the ceremony and making everyone very welcome. St Stephen’s is a great spot for some location photos then…
Jessica & Adrian – All Saints Hunters Hill – The Rocks – RACA
I started Jessica & Adrian’s wedding day with the boys at the Shangri-La Hotel and there were lots of laughs as they got ready. Jessica was nearby at the Observatory Hotel – an old period hotel and a great place to get ready with heavy draped curtains and beautiful mirrors. The ceremony was at Anglican Parish All Saints Church in Hunters Hill, a lovely church set on very green & spacious grounds. Jessica’s entrance was amazing and I loved the look on Adrian’s face when she arrived at the front of the aisle. The ceremony went well and hats off to some good improvisation by the groomsmen to use their…
Paulina & Nick – Botanic Gardens – QVB Tea Rooms
Phew, it was a super busy October and as such the blog has had zero attention! So time to show some recent weddings, starting with Paulina & Nick! I began the day with Paulina’s preparations at the Shangri-La Hotel, so we had a great view of all the rain rolling in! I loved the reminder that Nick put on Paulina’s iphone – very sweet! It wasnt looking good for an outdoor ceremony in the Botanic Gardens but with some positive belief Paulina & Nick decided to chance it anyway…..and it nearly paid off! Paulina made a beautiful (dry) entrance and then half way through the ceremony the rain came pouring…
Jodie & Amos – St Thomas’ North Sydney – Lavender Bay – The Rocks – Angelo’s
Jodie & Amos’ wedding was another great day and the last for me in September – what a month! Jodie’s preparations were at Rydges Hotel in North Sydney before the ceremony at nearby St Thomas’ Anglican Church. It’s simply a stunning place to be married and Jodie’s entrance down the very long aisle was spectacular. The Revd. Richard James conducted a lovely ceremony – I overheard one guest outside saying “he really nailed it”! After mingling outside St Thomas’ and some group shots we left and did photos with the bridal party at Lavender Bay, before also heading into the Rocks. Jodie & Amos were such a great couple and…
Jee & James – St Stephen’s Newtown – The Rocks – Waterview Homebush
Autumn is a lovely time of the year – the days are mild, the leaves turn golden and brown, and afternoons seem to stretch on forever. Photographically it’s a great time as well – the light tends to be softer & more colourful as the sun follows a lower path across the sky. Jee & James were married in a very old church (~1874) in Newtown called St Stephen’s. It has some amazing features and a wonderful old feel, and also a rather unqiue setting: the church is surrounded by gravestones as apparently the funds to originally build it were raised by those buried nearby. The ceremony itself was lovely,…
Felicity & Andrew – St Stephens Willoughby – The Rocks – Ottomans
Felicity & Andrew were married at St Stephen’s Church in Willougby. I also shot a wedding there last year and I can highly recommend it – it’s a lovely old church and the minister is very friendly. After the church we headed to the Rocks area and spent some time wandering around for photos with the bridal party. They were a great group and I dont think either Felicity or Andrew stopped smiling and laughing the whole time! The shots turned out really well, and it was then on to Ottomans at Walsh Bay for the reception. I really like Ottomans as a reception venue – the outdoor space is…
Jennifer & Daniel – Mandalay – The Rocks
Jennifer and Daniel were married at the Mandalay in Lane Cove. It’s a beautiful venue which has a great mix of an old style interior with a lovely garden exterior. The ceremony was held in the garden to the side of the house and it featured a lovely reading from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. It was a hot day so everyone headed inside after a few photos for the lunch time reception. The table settings were beautifully done, and check out the wedding cake – I’m not a basketball ref but this looks like a foul! After the reception we headed into the city for some photos with Jennifer and Daniel…
Marlia & Mark – Garrison Church – The Rocks – Bel Mondo
It’s been a very busy couple of months! As such we’re a bit behind on the blog so here goes…… Marlia & Mark were married at the Garrison Church in the Rocks. It was my first wedding at this church and I really enjoyed being right in the heart of the Rocks area! The church itself is stunning and there are plenty of great photo locations in the Rocks all within walking distance. I started at Marlia’s house for her preparation shots and Kirstine was a second shooter for the day who went to Mark’s house for his preps. The ceremony at the Garrison was lovely with Rev. Howard running…
Ada & Aylwin – Curzon Hall – Martin Place – The Rocks
It was raining cats & dogs on the day Ada & Aylwin were married but thankfully during breaks in the showers we managed to get all the shots we wanted at each location! It just goes to show you can get great photos on a wet day if you have time to wait for the clouds to clear. The day started early with games at Ada’s parents’ house. Aylwin and the groomsmen had to sing a song, make some rather odd tasting rice & wasabi balls and undergo a thorough interrogation by the girls! There was a tea ceremony held at Ada’s house with her family and also at the…
Louise & Paul – Shark Island – The Rocks – Argyle Cellars
Louise & Paul originally hail from Scotland and Wales so it’s only natural a bag piper should lead Louise’s walk down the aisle….. and then also come with them on the location photos….. and then bag pipe at Kirribilli by the Habour Bridge….. and then stand on the steps of the Opera House piping away to the surprise & delight of all the tourists in the area! It’s only natural, so I wonder if he went with them on honeymoon too?! Check out the short & shaky video clip I took with the 5D MkII at the end of the photos. The day was a lot of fun and I…
Hayley & Ben – Mary Immaculate Waverly – Sebel Pier One
Hayley & Ben had a super windy day for their wedding but at least we missed the big dust storms that hit Sydney recently! It actually made for some great shots of Hayley’s veil flying vertically, horizontally….. and all other angles in between. The ceremony was at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Waverly, a really beautiful church and the ceremony was lovely. There was plenty of laughs throughout as the little flower girl very seriously kept asking everyone to “ssshhhh”!! We left the church and headed to Hyde Park where the wind wasn’t in effect and Ben showed off his very impressive signature lifting moves (apparently he’ll lift anyone, anywhere,…
