Anu & Dinuk – St Francis Xavier Church Berrima – Peppers Manor House – Southern Highlands
One of my first weddings of the second half of the year and it was great to get away to the Southern Highlands region for Anu & Dinuk’s wedding! It was a beautiful cool spring day and I started with Dinuk’s preparations at Peppers Manor House in Sutton Forest (near Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands). Anu was in the other wing of the Manor and after shooting her preparations it was off to St Francis Xavier Church in nearby Berrima. The church was built in the 1800’s and was recently refurbished so looked amazing inside and out. The ceremony went very well with loads of smiles and a few…
Erin & Roland – Blessed Sacrament Church – Q Station Manly
Erin & Roland had a beautiful day with lovely winter weather. I started with Erin’s preparations at the Q Station and the rooms there are great for photos. Her little niece was hilarious showing off her modeilling spins and twirls! Mikala was a second photographer on the day and went to Roland’s house for his preparations – she got some great shots of the guys getting suited all up and having a good laugh. The ceremony was at Blessed Sacrament Church on Bradley’s Head Road in Mosman and it’s a lovely venue. The priest was really nice and the ceremony had a very relaxed and personal feel to it. Roland’s…
Rachel & Michael – St Antonys Church – Doltone House Sylvannia Waters
Rachel & Michael had a beautiful autumn day for their wedding. I started at Rachel’s house for preparation photos with all the family before heading to St Antony’s Catholic Church in Toongabie. The very cool wedding cars were a big stand out – the crazy suspension on these classic cars is amazing! The ceremony went well and afterwards we headed in convoy to Hyde Park for photos with the bridal party and after that some awesome night shots down by the Harbour Bridge. It was then on to the reception at Doltone House Slyvannia Waters. It’s a great venue and right from the start the drums and the dancing made…
Sonya & Kevin – Shelly Beach – Le Kiosk
Sonya & Kevin had a beautiful ceremony on Shelly Beach that included a lovely exchange of roses. It was a fun crowd – I love the shot of their friend / driver – a good thing Sonya chose Kevin to marry and not this ‘Bad Boy’. At the end of the ceremony we headed to the rock pool at Fairy Bower for photos with the bridal party. We got some great shots before taking Sonya & Kevin to Freshwater Beach…. and we even had time for some dramatic night shots down by Manly Wharf before the reception at Le Kiosk began. The clouds were threatening all day but we didnt…
Jee & James – St Stephen’s Newtown – The Rocks – Waterview Homebush
Autumn is a lovely time of the year – the days are mild, the leaves turn golden and brown, and afternoons seem to stretch on forever. Photographically it’s a great time as well – the light tends to be softer & more colourful as the sun follows a lower path across the sky. Jee & James were married in a very old church (~1874) in Newtown called St Stephen’s. It has some amazing features and a wonderful old feel, and also a rather unqiue setting: the church is surrounded by gravestones as apparently the funds to originally build it were raised by those buried nearby. The ceremony itself was lovely,…
Lani & Steve – Le Kiosk Shelly Beach
Lani & Steve’s was a very local wedding for me and I started the day with Lani’s preparations just around the corner from our studio at the Manly Pacific Hotel. I loved the “Dont’s For Wives” book – good for a laugh but definitely not for modern relationships! The ceremony & reception was held at Le Kiosk – nearby at Shelly Beach and one of my favourite venues. It has great food, there’s an intimate indoor space, and it has an outside courtyard area as well. Lani & Steve held the ceremony at the back of the courtyard area and it had a lovely feel of a tropical garden setting.…
Nicola & John – Westin Hotel – The Loft Doltone House
Nicola & John had a fantastic day with friends and family from overseas being treated to an outdoor wedding at Doltone House in Pyrmont. I have been to a number of wedding receptions here but this was my first afternoon ceremony. It looked fantastic outside with the cityscape & buildings behind….although the gaps in the wooden deck did provide the best man with some nervous moments when handing over the rings!! I started the day with Nicola at the Westin Hotel. A side story to the day was that Nicola is probably the bravest bride I have ever met – she was ‘attacked’ by her dress (it fell off the…
Carlie & David – Forresters Beach – Reef Restaurant Terrigal
I had a trip away from Sydney for Carlie & David’s wedding to Terrigal and Forresters Beach on the Central Coast – and what a great day it was! I started with Carlie’s preparations at the Crowne Plaza in Terrigal before heading to the ceremony that was held at a house right on Forresters Beach. It was a spectacular spot and the ceremony had plenty of smiles and laughs. We took some photos on Forresters Beach with the bridal party and also some on the rocks near the Skillion (a local landmark). David loves mini’s a la the Italian Job and they looked very cool in the photos! The reception…
Stephanie & Kieron – Clark Island
It’s always interesting to find new places and I must have been past Clark Island a hundred times on the ferry and didnt even realise it was there! Clark Island is a small slice of paradise right in the middle of Sydney Harbour, just off Double Bay, and it was the perfect location for Stephanie & Kieron’s wedding ceremony and reception. The day was spectacular with sunny weather and a mild temperature – Sydney is beautiful in autumn. The ceremony was great and I loved the personal (and very funny) vows that were added to the more traditional set. After the ceremony everyone wandered over to the reception area that…
Sasha & Andrew – Freshwater View Reserve – Curl Curl – Pilu
Sasha & Andrew were after a relaxed, beach style for their wedding day, and with a ceremony & reception venue both within a stones throw of the beach, they got just that! There was also a strong vespa theme at the wedding – based on their form of transport around London – that extended from a vespa parked outside the park, to beer cooloers, to the top of the wedding cake! I started the day with Sasha’s preparations while Mikala went to Andrew’s house. We all met up at Freshwater View Reserve which is a secluded park perched high above Freshwater Beach. It’s a lovely spot and with sunshine &…
Brooke & Phil – St Andrew’s Cathedral – Hyde Park – Star Room Cockle Bay
Brooke & Phil were such a great couple – full of life, fun and smiles! They were after a relaxed (and slightly crazy) style for their day and it wasnt hard to achieve with some real characters in the bridal party. I did preparations photos for both Brooke & Phil at the Medina Apartments – right across the road from the church. I really like doing the groom preparations as this part of the day is often missed and the guys were a lot of fun. The ceremony was at St Andrew’s Cathedral right next to Sydney Town Hall and it’s a simply stunning place to be married. The architecture…
A helping hand….
Just a funny shot from a recent wedding that makes me laugh – people can be so, er, helpful on location shoots! And no, she was not the bridesmaid.
Bianca & Paul – McKell Park – Sydney Glass Island
Bianca & Paul were married on the Sydney Glass Island cruise ship – it’s such a great way to take in all the sights of Sydney Harbour. I did preparation photos with Bianca at the Star City hotel, and then location photos with the bridal party at McKell Park, so Paul got to meet Bianca and didnt his jaw just drop to the ground! Love that shot. The photos at McKell were lovely and it was then on to the Glass Island for the ceremony. Everything went beautifully and it finished with a butterfly release. The wind was quite strong but the good thing about being on a boat is…
Belinda & Josh – Jonah’s Whale Beach
Belinda & Josh were married at Jonah’s – a fantastic wedding venue perched high above Whale Beach. The views are absolutely stunning and the day was perfect to take it all in with blue skies and plenty of sunshine and it was quite a treat for family & friends from overseas. A great thing about Jonah’s is that they have accommodation on site so I did Belinda’s preparation photos just downstairs from the restaurant, so no long drives to the ceremony in your wedding dress here. The ceremony went beautifully and a cold drink afterwards was just what the hot sun warranted. We ducked away before the lunchtime reception for…
Carmen & Joseph – Our Lady of Fatima – Sydney University – Fish Markets
Joseph started the day with a variety of crazy challenges – there were some classic moments and plenty of laughs on his intrepid path to find Carmen! A good thing he chose the correct door or we all would have had to go home. A beautiful tea ceremony – I love all the details and colour – with parents at both houses followed before the church ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima in Kingsgrove. Heading into the city we took photos at quite a number of locations from Hyde Park, St Mary’s Cathedral, Observatory Hill, and Sydney University. The rain started coming down quite heavily at Observatory Hill so we…
Simone & David – Delwood Beach – Balmoral Beach – Sergeants Mess Chowder Bay
Simone & David are a lovely couple and if you could bottle up & sell the smiles and happiness they showed on their wedding day I’m sure the world would become a better place very quickly! I started with Simone’s preparations at the Manly Pacific Hotel and the ceremony was held at Delwood Beach near Manly. It’s a great spot, nicely hidden away from crowds and it’s the perfect location for a beach wedding. The entrance by Simone and her bridesmaid down the stairs and along the sand was spectacular and the ceremony had some very touching moments…..and plenty of the smiles I mentioned earlier! We headed to Balmoral Beach…
Kelly & Joe – Bradley’s Head – Narrabeen – Long Reef Golf Club
Kelly & Joe had a beautiful wedding day with the ceremony at Bradley’s Head and the reception at Long Reef Golf Club – two great spots. It was a mid-week wedding and it was great to be able to take photos without crowds of people around or contend with traffic! The ceremony at Bradley’s Head was lovely with a perfect cover of cloud and Kelly’s entrance down the curving staircase a beautiful moment. They had allowed plenty of time for a mostly overseas crowd to mingle after the ceremony and it really is a great idea for any wedding day to have this time to chat and catch up with…
Felicity & Andrew – St Stephens Willoughby – The Rocks – Ottomans
Felicity & Andrew were married at St Stephen’s Church in Willougby. I also shot a wedding there last year and I can highly recommend it – it’s a lovely old church and the minister is very friendly. After the church we headed to the Rocks area and spent some time wandering around for photos with the bridal party. They were a great group and I dont think either Felicity or Andrew stopped smiling and laughing the whole time! The shots turned out really well, and it was then on to Ottomans at Walsh Bay for the reception. I really like Ottomans as a reception venue – the outdoor space is…
Tracy & Victor – Tea Ceremony – Parramatta Park – Silver Pearl
You might remember Tracy & Victor from their pre-wedding shoot a few weeks ago – today was the actual wedding ceremony & reception and it started early with a traditional Tea Ceremony at Tracy’s parent’s house. I found the tea ceremony customs very interesting and it was lovely to be part of something unique to me…. and made for some great photos! It was good to see the fathers also doing a time honoured Australian tradition – sharing a cold beer 🙂 The tea ceremony was followed by a civil service at the house which included a change of clothing. We then had lunch and headed for some photos at…
Sevan & Ara – Armenian Apostolic Church Chatswood – The Establishment
February has been a wet month in Sydney and it the rain started for me at Sevan & Ara’s wedding. I did the preparations with Sevan while Sarah shot at Ara’s house and it included some very vigorous dressing by the men! They both looked fantastic – Sevan wore a Collette Dinnigan dress and Ara had a very cool suit. The ceremony was held at the Armenian Apostolic Church in Chatswood – a lovely church and the ceremony was beautiful. The rain kept on coming down so we headed straight to Martin Place for photos under cover and also made use of Tank Alley and inside the Establishment where the…
